Since I was inspired by Ancient Chinese and Japanese pottery works, I decided to mimic the pot shape theme they began with back in 14,000 BC. I decided on this culture since I thought it was interesting the purpose they used their pottery for, I learned that in East Asia they would store their fermenting fish in the pots and bury them into the ground to preserve it. Using my inspiration I chose to build a pot which would resemble one for this ancient use.
The image below is an example of an ancient pot made 14,000 BC. This vessel , although it looks simple was very difficult to construct using the coil method. I used the google image picture below as a model of my vessel. I chose this vessel shape because it promoted me to work vertically and to expand the height of my vessel.
