- This was one of my first pitch pots created. I incorporated using smooth cut patterns in piece made with a knife and a rubber stopper.
To create a pinch pot, First cup the ball in your hand and gently toss and catch the ball repeatdly with your palm. Next press your thumb in the center of the of the ball. Make sure to make an even opening by slowly pinching the sides of the center. Leave an even base of about 3/8 of an inch. Once sides and bowl of the pinch pot are even, use a rubber rib to smooth out any imperfections. What makes a pinch pot success when being fired is allowing it too wait till its in a stage know as ¨leather hard¨ before being placed in the kiln.
